Hard and Thin
The heart of the SQ-Short ONE12 is the 5 mm thin trouser pad. For racers who don't want to wear diapers The SQ-Pad 12 is only 5 mm thick at most and initially feels exceptionally firm and high-quality. Comparable to sporty saddles that are just as slim and tightly padded. The firm SQ-Pad 12 keeps its shape, especially on longer journeys. It is therefore not pushed uncomfortably inwards during the pedaling movement, as is the case with many high, soft pads. For perfect comfort on longer journeys and for racers who don't want to wear diapers.
Customizable & Comfortable
The very thin trouser padding becomes more comfortable as the mileage increases and adapts wonderfully to the shape of the body. One Size You would have expected more from the inventor of the sit bone measurement and the saddle width system - at least several different pad widths. The SQ pads are universally suitable for any sit bone distance. The slightly extra width ensures that the sit bones rest firmly on the padding and do not slide inwards even during pedaling. Conclusion: A saddle that is too wide can cause problems - a padding does not.
No pressure points
Thanks to their tight design, the SQ pads retain their shape. This means that they are not pushed inwards when pedalling, as is the case with many high, soft pads. The SQ-Short ONE12 is made for competition and has a tight fit. If in doubt, go for the next size up. Why is the SQlab pad hard and thin? Myth of a soft saddle: Sit bones are used to support body weight and can withstand high pressure. A bicycle saddle that is too soft causes the sit bones to sink in. This irritates sensitive tissue, as well as muscle and tendon attachments. This means that sit bones that sink deeply lead to a higher load on the perineum in men and the lower pubic arch in women. But this is exactly where the question arises: why do we ride tight saddles and then simulate a soft saddle with thick and super-soft cycling shorts padding? Because the result is the same: sinking sit bones, restricted blood flow and increased friction. Why haven't tight trouser padding been around for a while? Because high-quality foams with better cushioning properties have a higher density and therefore lose breathability. Using a patented process, we have managed to break up the structures of the very dense foam. The result is a high level of breathability, comparable to conventional padding or even better. The perfect cushioning is fully retained.
