About Cannondale

The Cannondale brand has its roots in a small workshop in Wilton, Connecticut, USA. Cannondale was founded in 1971 by Joe Montgomery and his team. Cannondale originally started making backpacks and bike trailers for camping. The name "Cannondale" comes from the Cannondale train station, which is located near the original workshop. The company entered the bicycle market a few years later. In 1983, Cannondale began producing bicycle frames. The first bicycle frames were made of aluminum, which was an innovation at the time, as most other manufacturers used steel. Cannondale was one of the first bicycle manufacturers to recognize the advantages of aluminum frames - especially their lightness and rigidity - and successfully put them into mass production. This decision had a significant impact on the bicycle industry and made Cannondale a pioneer in the production of high-quality, lightweight bicycles.
Since then, Cannondale has continued to evolve and is known for its innovative bicycle construction technologies, such as the single-sided "Lefty" suspension fork and the CAAD (Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design).
