Cube - Frequently Asked Questions
Did you know that Cube produces some of its bikes in Germany? Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Cube brand - from production and technology to sustainability and quality.

WO PRODUZIERT CUBE?
CUBE Bikes produces its bikes in Waldershof in the Fichtel Mountains in Upper Palatinate, Germany. This is where the company's headquarters are located, where both the development and final assembly of the bikes takes place. However, the company does not produce its bikes exclusively in Germany, but also has production facilities in other countries such as China, Taiwan and Sri Lanka. Cube works closely with its production partners to ensure that the high quality standards are maintained and the bikes meet customer expectations. The company carries out regular quality controls to ensure that its bikes meet international standards.
WHAT ABOUT THE QUALITY?
Cube stands for innovative technical solutions and their creative implementation. The CUBE Innovation Center (CIC) embodies this central part of the company culture. Here, the development team works continuously on smart innovations, advanced technologies and optimal materials for each product. After the development phase, all products undergo rigorous tests in the laboratory in which the safety and functional requirements go far beyond the norm. If the product passes this test, intensive practical tests by engineers and team riders follow. The result is a product that combines high functionality, low weight, optimal rigidity and maximum safety.
HOW DOES CUBE PERFORM IN TESTS?
Cube bikes often perform very well in independent tests and are praised for their quality, safety and innovative technology.
HOW IS CUBE COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY?
Cube is increasingly committed to environmentally friendly processes, such as the use of sustainable materials and optimized production processes to reduce its ecological footprint. By producing in Germany, Cube allows better control over working conditions and energy efficiency in production. Cube relies on energy-efficient processes and minimizes waste wherever possible.
Packaging materials are made from recycled paper and items such as mudguards or bottle holders are made from 90-100% recycled plastic or nylon.

CUBE test laboratory
Bumps, stones and roots - all of these things put strain on your bike. To ensure the quality of Cube bikes, Cube has its own test laboratory. Here, all bikes and important components are tested for your safety and to ensure the quality of the bikes.
Components such as the brakes must function without compromise. Different braking systems are tested for deceleration values, stability and wear. The tests naturally also take weather conditions into account and the brakes are tested in dry and wet situations.
To ensure the durability of the brake pads, 3000 braking operations are carried out automatically and only if they can withstand this load with little wear are they even considered for the bikes.
Of course, the entire bike is also tested. This happens on the drum test bench. The bike, equipped with standard components, is attached to the drum and weighted on the handlebars, saddle and pedals (a total of 140 kg) to simulate the rider and luggage. The two rollers of the drum on which the bike stands rotate and thus generate typical road surface excitations. The bike drives over various obstacles, over 1.5 million in total, and covers a set distance.
SPECIAL LAB TEST MOUNTAINBIKE
Mountain biking puts a lot of strain on the fork and the head tube area is also a sensitive area. A separate machine is therefore used to simulate a high load in order to test this area as thoroughly as possible. In total, the head tube must withstand at least 50,000 load cases without damage. To do this, a realistic load is simulated using a fork in order to simulate driving over obstacles, braking maneuvers and jumps.
SPECIAL LAB TEST ROAD RACE
A special requirement for a road bike is the full-power sprint to the finish. Here, too, all safety-relevant components are tested in great detail to ensure the usual high quality.
Enormous forces act on the bike, especially when sprinting. That's why we test these stress situations precisely on our pedaling test bench. Similar to the pedaling movement, the force is introduced into the crank arm in a sinusoidal shape, corresponding to the power development of a racing cyclist in the final sprint. The stress test lasts over 16 hours. This is followed by a second test phase, as higher forces sometimes occur during real driving maneuvers. The force acting on the pedals has increased by a further 25%. In this stage, the bike must safely withstand 10,000 cycles.

brand name
The name Cube was created from a combination of spatial considerations and brand strategy: The founder Marcus Pürner started producing the first bicycles in a small, cube-shaped room in the family business. The compact workshop inspired the name Cube , which is short, concise and internationally understandable. The name was also intended to reflect the innovative power and clear structure of the brand - values that still shape the design and development of Cube products today.

Allroad
In addition, there is the designation Allroad , which identifies bicycles with everyday equipment such as lighting, stands, mudguards and luggage racks.
Aluminum & Carbon
Cube - frame technologies
Cube mainly uses two materials for its bicycle frames: aluminum and carbon.
Aluminium : This material is characterised by its low weight and high strength. Cube uses advanced technologies such as hydroforming and butting to optimise the frames. The tubes are hydraulically formed and the wall thicknesses are varied to improve the weight-to-stiffness ratio. In addition, many aluminium frames are coated using the wet paint process, which brings further weight advantages.
Carbon : Cube uses carbon fibers to create particularly light and stiff frames. With C:68® technology, Cube achieves a fiber content of 68%, which results in less weight and more stiffness. By using spread tow material with flat fiber bundles, the wall thicknesses are reduced by up to 25%. Advanced Twin Mold manufacturing also ensures high precision and uniformity of the frames.
Overall, Cube offers a wide range of bikes with aluminum and carbon frames to meet the different needs and preferences of riders.

Cube Aluminium
For the premium range, Cube uses so-called high-performance aluminum. The use of special alloys and thermal treatment further increases the material strength. Triple or even quadruple butted aluminum tubes enable targeted material distribution: material is only used where it is necessary, while the wall thickness is reduced in less stressed areas. The hydroforming process shapes the tubes so that they can optimally absorb loads. The combination of low density and high strength, together with butting and hydroforming, enables the production of high-quality frames with complex shapes and excellent rigidity.

Cube C:68 Carbon
More comfort, more safety: C:68® stands for innovative carbon technology with a reduced resin content and 68% fiber content, which reduces weight and increases rigidity. Thanks to the monocoque construction, the carbon layers are placed precisely, which avoids unnecessary weight. A solid core in the manufacturing process minimizes wrinkles and increases stability. Zero technology means that C:68® frames do not have unnecessary glue points or glued-in aluminum parts - only threads are made of aluminum. This means that the frame remains light, durable and offers maximum performance.

Cube C:62 Carbon
Not all carbon is created equal. Cube's C:62® Carbon uses a higher proportion of high-modulus fibers and reinforces the resin system with fine nanoparticles, making it extremely light, strong and durable. Three techniques work together in its production: The monocoque construction with Advanced Twin Mold technology ensures precise layer overlaps and avoids unnecessary weight. A solid core inside the frame minimizes wrinkling and increases stability, ensuring the safety and durability of Cube's lightest frame.

Cube C:68X Carbon
The C:68® technology focused on an optimal resin reduction to 32% and increased the load capacity through special nanoparticles. The C:68X® technology builds on this and optimizes the fiber selection and angle for even more precise load adjustment. Each fiber and its angle are specifically adapted to the stress on the respective frame section, which maximizes material efficiency and improves riding performance. Up to six different types of fiber are used for specific areas. This creates a lighter, aerodynamic frame with greater stiffness and comfort - a glimpse into the future of cycling.
Further questions about Cube Bikes
WHERE CAN I FIND THE FRAME NUMBER
On CUBE Classic bikes, the frame number can be found on the bottom bracket.
• On the CUBE Hybrid models, the frame number is located along the seat tube, below the chainstay.
CAN I TRAIN WITH MY CUBE BIKE ON A ROLLER TRAINER?
Yes.
Your CUBE bike is generally approved for use with an indoor trainer, provided the following instructions are observed.
- The approval applies to bikes without electronic drive – all Pedelec models (hybrid) are excluded from the approval.
- The compatibility between the bike and the trainer must be checked and ensured before first use.
- Bikes with a thru axle for mounting the rear wheel may only be used with direct drive trainers or free rollers.
Definition - Direct Drive Trainer:
With a direct drive trainer, the rear wheel is removed and the chain is mounted on the cassette installed on the trainer. The trainer therefore replaces the rear wheel in the bike.
Available direct drive trainers include Wahoo Kicker V6, Tacx Neo 2T and Elite Direto XR-T.
Definition of Free Role:
With a free roller, the bike is neither clamped nor the rear wheel removed. Riding is similar to normal cycling on the road - just on the spot.
Available free rollers include Tacx Galaxia, Elite Arion.
- The frame of the bike may only be fixed to the trainer at the attachment points for the wheel.
- In no situation, neither when stationary nor when in use (including heavy loads, e.g. pedaling out of the saddle), may there be contact between the frame or attachments of the bike and the trainer, with the exception of the above-mentioned attachment points for the wheel.
- It is essential to check carefully that there is no contact between the bike and the trainer. We recommend that another person help you check that there is no contact during operation (including heavy loads, e.g. pedaling).
WHY DO CARBON FRAMES OFTEN HAVE AN UNEVEN FINISH?
Cube uses the UD finish on some of its carbon frames during the manufacturing process, which results in a special and unique surface design.
The UD finish deliberately dispenses with any top layers, allowing a direct view of the various carbon, impact and grinding points that are typical of the manufacturing process.
Since the frames are handmade, the finishes are always different, making each one unique.
CAN I TRANSPORT MY CUBE BIKE ON THE ROOF RACK OR MY REAR CARRIER?
Roof racks where the bike is fixed with the rear wheel and the fork dropouts are unproblematic.
An exception is racing bikes, where the fork has carbon dropouts. In addition, roof racks with down tube clamps are unsuitable. These can crush the tube and cause lasting damage. Rear carriers, where the bike is secured to the two wheels and the top tube, are generally suitable for aluminum frames. It is best to transport the bike in the car. This protects against theft and is gentler on your bike. When using a rear carrier, please note the information in the general operating instructions on page 57. The use of carriers is therefore at your own risk. No liability or warranty claims can be made for damage/accidents that are due to the use of a rear carrier. Please also note that clamping on carbon frames is generally not permitted. If you still decide to transport with a carrier: A relatively uncritical place for a clamp is the aluminum seat post or the place on the seat tube where the seat post and the seat tube overlap. We strongly advise against clamping it to the top or down tube. And very important for a CUBE e-bike: Please store the battery in the trunk and secure it. Do not leave it on the bike under any circumstances, a battery falling out can be extremely dangerous!
