Specialized S-Works RECON
From road bike defector to gravel high-flyer, the new S-Works Recon brings asphalt-bred performance to the gravel and XC disciplines. Using more than 100,000 foot scans from our RETÜL data, we determined that both a standard and wide carbon baseplate best accommodate the spectrum of human foot shapes. An internal I-beam provides additional stiffness and strength, eliminating the need for additional bracing. The result is a knowledge-based fit that's stiff and comfortable, and can be customized to you. All with the goal of enhancing performance.
The S-Works Recon is built on our Body Geometry technology, based on the inside-out principle. Based on two decades of development and backed by science, we ensure there are no pain points where the body connects to the bike—just efficient power transfer. The varus wedge, longitudinal arch support, and metatarsal pad ensure your feet move in the optimal position and in line with your knees and hips while pedaling.
- High-density profile edges and new washers allow you to optimize your pedal interface for maximum efficiency and mimic a pedal platform familiar from road bikes.
- With proven Body Geometry technology: Varus wedge, longitudinal arch support and metatarsal pad.
- The asymmetrical heel counter supports the inside of the foot, while material has been removed from the outside to allow for a lower ankle area.
- An internal I-beam provides additional stiffness and strength, eliminating the need for additional bracing and making the shoe extremely lightweight.
- Reinforced zones in the forefoot and midfoot maximize support, while the revised BOA® guide promotes a secure fit and eliminates the need for a toe strap.
- Additional insoles for leg length discrepancies in thicknesses of 3 mm, 6 mm and 9 mm and washers for cleats are available through the Specialized Rider Care Team.
- To ensure a perfect fit, the new baseplate is 4 mm wider than the standard width (8 mm wider overall than S-Works Recon mountain bike shoes).
