Yes, the Checkmate is based on Trek's latest aerodynamically optimized Full System Foil tube profiles, introduced with the Madone Gen 8, making it our fastest gravel bike ever.

Because the Checkmate shares the same racing genes as the Madone, it is equipped with the aerodynamic, lightweight and ergonomic RSL Aero handlebar/stem unit from the Madone Gen 8. However, to allow more control on gravel roads without riders having to leave their aerodynamic position, the Checkmate's handlebar/stem unit is wider than the Madone in every frame size.

To save weight, it comes without a downtube storage compartment, but it does have attachment points for the Adventure Top Tube Bag and Adventure Triangle Frame Bag to make it easier to store energy bars, gels and gear for one-day gravel bike races on the bike.

Yes, the Checkmate features the new RCS Headset System, which simplifies and standardizes the parts required for the various cockpit setups of different models and platforms.

• RCS Race: For use with the new RSL Aero handlebar/stem unit (on the Madone SLR Gen 8 ex works).
• RCS Pro: For use with the current RCS Pro Blendr stem (factory fitted on Madone SL Gen 8).
• RCS Universal: For use with conventional round stems.

Trek gravel and road bike frames designed for the RCS Headset System use a standard headset bearing cover and matching spacers depending on the stem type installed (see above). This means you always know exactly which parts you need to swap the cockpit between models/platforms with the RCS Headset System.
