Superfood – hype towards home

Superfoods are trendy: a lot is promised; the more exotic, the better.

But what's behind it? Since everything sounds much more attractive in English, I'll only write it once here: Superfood means nothing other than super healthy foods, not miracle cures or panaceas. Quite apart from excellent macronutrient, vitamin and mineral content, we should first ask ourselves what mass cultivation (with increasing demand), storage and delivery mean for the product and the environment. To put it bluntly, a tuber from the Andes has to have a lot to offer to compete with a tuber from my garden...

It should be said that I'm definitely into this exotic superfood trend and I'm just going to try it out.
Which exotics do I mean? Here are just a few that everyone should have heard of by now:

  • Chia seeds
  • Maca
  • Moringa
  • Matcha
  • Acai berries
  • Goji berries

We all know the local superfoods, just maybe not as super healthy 🙂 .Here are also some examples:

  • linseed
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Walnuts, almonds
  • Pseudograins (millet, quinoa, ...)
  • Types of cabbage, cruciferous vegetables (red, white, kale, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, savoy cabbage, spinach, chard, rocket, ...)
  • paprika
  • Blueberries, blueberries, raspberries, rose hips
  • Beetroot
  • sprouts
  • Garlic
  • Local herbs

Oh, what stands out then???

In order to stuff ourselves with superfoods, we don't have to break our arm, raid our savings account or emigrate. Quite the opposite!
I could continue the list of local foods - with the result that what is most important here is the principles of “ fresh ” and “ unprocessed ”... and ideally from a well-known garden, from a farmer or organic. You know what I mean. In addition, variety and variety are good, it can be colorful, it should also taste good.

Mmmmmhhhhh….

Berries with low-fat quark and linseeds/sunflower seeds for breakfast, cinnamon on top 🙂

Steamed broccoli with millet and walnuts for lunch, nicely peppered

Warm oat milk with organic cocoa powder (no sugar) or a fresh ginger-lemon tea for in between

Spinach with garlic, turkey, fresh peppers and homemade herb quark as a dip for dinner

N/a? Who's coming over? 🙂

I take the whole topic as an opportunity to take a closer look at the individual foods.
