Santa Cruz Hightower LT 2018
After the Santa Cruz last season Hightower has more than successfully launched the Santa Cruz Hightower LT onto the market, this year it is time to close the gap to other competitors and present a 29″ Long Travel / Enduro bike. The result is the stunning Santa Cruz Hightower LT 2018.
The geometry of the Santa Cruz Hightower LT 2018 has not fundamentally changed, small adjustments to the reach and the steering angle are the logical consequence of giving the bike 10 mm more travel at the front and 15 mm at the rear. The design of the VPP chassis remains the same, only the revised design of the brake calliper catches the eye. Apart from that, Santa Cruz has thought through smaller changes well - clean cable routing, frame protection on the chainstays and space for a water bottle
The frame
Particularly noteworthy are the new components released for the 2018 model year, such as the SRAM GX 1x 12 groupset, theFOX Float DPX2 shock absorber and the new Santa Cruz in-house Carbon Reserve wheels.
Finally, consumers can ride an affordable 12-speed gear group and no longer have to do without the 500% gear range. This offers massive advantages over the usual 11-speed gear groups, especially in the enduro sector.
A special treat for all enduro enthusiasts is the new FOX Float DXP2 shock absorber, which ultimately gives the Hightower LT the "downhill-ready" rating. In addition, the two top equipment options are optionally available with the new super-light Carbon Reserve wheels from Santa Cruz, which make the Hightower even more agile uphill.
The equipment is well thought out and well thought out. For the more energetic rider, the Hightower LT CS 29 offers a bike with a large gear ratio and simpler chassis components. For the downhill junkie who is not afraid to pedal uphill, the LT C XE 29 offers a purebred 1x11 Shimano gear system and the downhill weapons FOX Performance 36 and FOX Float DPX 2.
Our opinion
The Santa Cruz Hightower LT 2018 is a feast for the eyes, it looks aggressive but still elegant. It combines the advantages of uphill and downhill with the result of being one of the most beautiful enduro bikes on the market, typical Santa Cruz style.
